U.S. (Airborne) 507th (PIR) 82nd Airborne Grouping Normandy & Varsity- Nice Used Condition

This is a stunning and historical U.S. (Airborne) 82nd Airborne Grouping. Recently purchased out of the woodwork. The grouping consists of an IKE uniform i.e. jacket, trousers and side cap.
The IKE jacket is badged to a technical sergeant that served with the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division and was later assigned to the 17th Airborne Division. As part of the 82nd Airborne Division the regiment took part in D-Day in 1944 with the objective to help secure the Merderet River crossings.The 507th Parachute Infantry dropped near Wesel in Germany as part of the 17th Airborne Division, on 24 March 1945 to spearhead the division's assault during Operation Varsity, the airborne crossing of the Rhine. The jacket is original mounted with insignia and including a meritorious service unit badge, Combat Infantryman badge and Croix de Guerre Fourragere lanyard, awarded to units that had multiple awards by France for bravery and battle in the liberation of France. Furthermore ribbons for the following decorations: Good conduct, word war two victory and European campaign medal with bronze star and arrow for Airborne operations. As well as the polished Parachute qualification wing. Fitted in orange oval typical for the 507th (PIR) and bronze stars and arrowheads added on the wing (for Airborne operations).The uniform itself consists of a n IKE jacket, fitted with original label. Sized a large 40L and 1944 dated. Fitted with a full working tallon zip that has been period applied. In the trousers the original label is present, yet washed out. The size is partly visible being a waist 34. With original mounted side cap, badged and marked a size 7. The jacket is marked with laundry numer "H3453" and initials "TEH" that could be researched.
This is a stunning and intersting grouping, well kept and looked after for over 80 years and a true piece of history. In excellent condition that cannot be upgraded!
