US (Airborne) Drop Container Aerial delivery type A5- Nice Used Condition

A US Airborne Type A-5 Air Delivery Container of the type used to supply troops on D Day ,Market-Garden and Varsity and typically fitted underneath the fuselage of the C-47 and deployed by parachute over the drop zone.

Constructed in a heavy cotton canvas the container is comprised of two large end covers holding a large quilted map in which the supplies are wrapped, in this case ammunition.

An elaborate array of parachute harness straps surround the container to secure it during deployment with horizontal clips allowing quick removal of the end covers and access to the wrapped ammunition tins.

Overall length is approximately 113 cms x 55cm with a weight of 24 kgs and overall condition is very good with no damage.
